Hey Parents
ACTIVITIES
Avoid too much screen time. Kids can get addicted to social media. Kids learn and think from imagination and creativity. Do activities with your kids. Let them think through steps and possibilities as you show the basics. Become critical thinkers.
Kids build self-esteem by learning how to do things.

"Everybody went through life looking up, now people look down at a cell phone. Young people stopped living their lives and started watching people live their lives. Here's the problem: The lives they were watching being lived were fiction, fantasies produced and created. And they were comparing their life to those of fantasy lives. As a result, they started feeling inferior and self-esteem went down. And that interferes with family dynamics. Not everything on Google is correct. Beware of cyberbullying." - Dr. Phil

Dr. Phil mentions the damage that can happen when kids compare themselves to other people.
We want kids to be "unique to themselves" and not compare themselves to others. Develop their own creativity.

"As parents, do we have the ability to take the difficult or painful things and tweak them to make them humorous? If we can our kids will greatly benefit." She told a story where she had made a mistake in a play that left her devastated. And how her Mom helped her through it. - Gladys McCarey - age 103

Parchment paper - tear off a long piece and put it on the floor. Toddlers like to crinkle it up, tear it up, crayon on it, or finger paint on a smaller piece of paper. Also, fun for older kids' art activities. Our granddaughter likes us to hold her hands as she slides on it like she is skiing.
If your child is slow to wake up, this can be a good time to read a story or present a learning skill like colors, numbers or ABC's.

- Have you noticed when you walk through Walmart etc. stores don't have toys you want your child to have? Stuffed animals and dolls do not look real and more like blobs. There are some wonderful Kids' Stores out there. They sell, resell, and trade. Look for learning toys like the brand Lovevery, also online. Used bookstores have many old and new classics for kids.

As children grow and develop, be alert to what they like and are good at. What are they passionate about? Present more opportunities in those areas so they can develop their skills further. This gives children a sense of good self-esteem and purpose.

Two important qualities to teach toddlers are respect and sharing. Don't let kids be disrespectful to you. That's where it all starts.
But you also show respect to the child. They need to feel wanted and loved. Inculcating these qualities into a personality will be a continuous balance throughout life.
